Remember the Grinch !!
You have given me great memories and good times with friends. I remember that little corner of that sardine standing smelly bar where you lit up everyone's youth. Thank goodness the drinking age was only 18.
Those days are gone now and so are those intimate friendships.
Thank God you are still around.
I shall be visiting NY soon and I hope you are in the area.
I have other friends now whom I am sure would love hear you sing.
I saw you in Baileys maybe eight years ago and bought you a drink. I believe I owe you many more.
Thanks for giving me a slice of life, a slice I shall always cherish and smile at while my mind travels back in time every so often.

Lyrics: Fred Neil
The Dolphins
This old world may never change
The way it’s been
And all the ways of war
Can’t change it back again
I’ve been searchin’
For the dolphins in the sea
And sometimes I wonder
Do you ever think of me
I’m not the one to tell this world
How to get along
I only know the peace will come
When all hate is gone
I’ve been searchin’
For the dolphins in the sea
And sometimes I wonder
Do you ever think of me
You know sometimes I think about
Saturday’s child
And all about the time
When we were running wild
I’ve been searchin’
For the dolphins in the sea
And sometimes I wonder
Do you ever think of me
This old world may never change
This world may never change
This world may never change

Hey Kevin, Peggy and I really enjoyed your show last night at the PG. We are away much of the year; and we haven't had much opportunity to catch a performance. It looked like you guys really had fun up there on stage. It was great to see Chris, Doug and Bredosian playing with you.(Shades of the good old days.)

Hey Kevin, Thanks for taking the time to speak with me last night (Thurs. Jan 12) at Power's Pub. It was a true pleasure! With your sharing of your experience and knowledge and your personality,I learned a great deal in that, too short, time.
I truly wish I had had your focus when I was younger (regardless of whether you remember your younger days or not, LOL. BTW, they say if you remember those days, you weren't there).
Anyway, now I'm just trying to catch up. LOL!

Hi Kevin,
It's good to know that you are still creating music! My husband and I first saw you up in Lake Placid several years ago when you were with a band. We bought one of your CD's but now only have the CD cover - think we lost the CD in a rental car CD player during our travels out west. Go figure. Anyway, I don't the name of your CD but remember a song with the words' Broken Dreams and Memories of Heartaches (because we sang it in the car when we traveled!) can you please shed some light on what the CD was called?
Thanks much and God Bless,

I had the pleasure of listening to the group several times in Lake Placid, and 2 First Nights in Saratoga. I have moved to Florida, love the sun, but I miss the music. Just to let you know Ormond Beach has a Celtic Festival in the early spring when the snow is still flying up north, if you are interested. I would love to see you there. We would like to know if you are planning another McKrell's concert... We're down in NYC and we only heard about the ones in The Egg and in Pawling too late -- if we'd had more notice we would've come up to Pawling, but the time was just wrong, so we're very sad to have missed it.
Please give us one more! Thank you!

Hello,
It has been a family tradition to attend the McKrell Christmas show. Four years ago my hubby was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease)still fighting..but not able to attend such events. I will be attending with my now 7 and 9 year old boys. I was wondering in Andrew's honor if you would ask people to pull out there phones and text in a free vote to the Pepsi Refresh Contest for the ALS Guardian Angels. We are only in 30th place and the organiztion needs to be in the top 10 to win 50K,,it is not the money (that would only properly outfit one wheelchair)...but it is advocacy...and in honor of my loving husband. Text to Pepsi: 73774 in the message area type the # 104660 the contest ends December 31st. Thanks so much for considering this!
Fondly,

July 23, 2010
Don't know if you remember me Kevin. After seeing The Mckrells play at the glass a few years ago I quickly became a big fan. Seen you at Syracuse, Irish fest near utica, Oswego, Lowville and the Edwards opera house. Anyway, we took my youngest to see you at the glass about 10 years ago. He had just started playing guitar. I believe that night was a turning point in his life. He got much more serious about the music after that. When he became a senior in high school he took a music class in order to learn how to read music and was turned on to the upright bass. He went on to SUNY New Paltz to study Jazz. I am very Happy to tell you that Last month he Graduated with his Masters in Jazz performance from Eastman and has become a very accomplished Jazz and Classical Musician. So I write to you this day to thank you for your influence. Sometimes we struggle through life not knowing what good we do for others and the positive influence we project. I firmly believe that my son saw the magic take place that night at the parting glass and decided there and then that Music was his future. ...... So thank you Kevin Mckrell
for being Kevin Mckrell!....... Oh by the way Brian Mellick Met my son Kyle
when he was working at New Paltz. If you would , Thank him for us as he was part of the Magic! Check it out ---Google Kyle Vock Thanks again!

This website is very boring. I think it needs comments that don't paint you in such glowing terms. Variety is the spice of life. Your newsletter has not been up dated since January nor has your artwork (I am guessing about the artwork - I didn't really bother to look.) Come on laddie, hop to it, get a move on. Work gets very boring, drifting on to the web, hoping to read something new and exciting, then rereading your thoughts from January 26.
Hope to one day see your latest endeavor, Trained Fools, before they disband. That depends on what my parole officer and psychiatrist have to say about these ramblings. However, I am due for a pass. P.S. Never tell the truth to unworthy people, it will always get you into a whole lot of trouble - Mark Twain

Letter to the Editor I wrote after your Saturday Caffe Lena concert, in case it never sees the print light of day!
Title: Train of Fools
Entertainment does not get any better than Kevin McKrell's new band Train of Fools, which I saw at Caffe Lena on Saturday April 10th.Imagine hearing original selections by all five band members, laugh out loud camaraderie, and stories only Kevin McKrell could live and tell.
A veteran of many McKrell performances, I believe he offers audiences Celtic Charisma, which I define as Irish Music, Mayhem and Mischief.
To a packed house at the end of the show, Kevin McKrell said, "I hope you had as much fun as we did!" We did indeed!
Marry Train of Fools and Caffe Lena (celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year) and you get the best of Saratoga, good, clean, creative and intimate fun!

Hello Kevin!
It was a pleasure listening to you and Katie and all on Saturday, March 6th in Oswego. I have listened to your music for almost 24 years and enjoy it completely. I think that's why my hubby Doug has figured out a schedule for you the weekend of August 13, 14, and 15, so you can give us a little of your music at our 25th Anniversary of "Buying the Farm".... You have a warmth and sincerity about you that truly connects with those who have lived lives with some bumps in the road.
Joy!

Kevin,
Though I’ve only seen you perform on a couple of occasions over the years, I just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed your music. My wife and I are both musicians, playing for a living in US Air Force bands. We heard the McKrells a couple of times down in Savannah, GA; first, when you had Sara in the group and had just done your “Live” recording. Being a musician, it’s easy to be jaded and over-analytical (the world is full of music critics, and their value to humanity is nil) about our art but your music really spoke to us, and especially to me at a time when I viewed my music as just “work.” We recognized that wonderful quality of “heart” in the words to your songs as well as the delivery of those messages (Hit the Ground Running and The Routine especially spoke to our feelings as touring musicians)…and of course your band gave us their all. I think you’ll agree that audiences are voyeurs and I feel the most satisfying music when performing or listening is when the performer delivers a message from the heart…and the audience gets that message as well as a glimpse, if brief, into the very soul of the human being that is delivering it. That experience made me reevaluate myself as a musician and helped reawaken my passion for music. I rediscovered the joy of making music just for the sheer joy of it as well as a better sense of how to give that to the people we “entertain.” Music really touches people’s hearts and isn’t it amazing we can have a part in that? I’m positive you don’t get nearly the monetary rewards that your talents deserve but hopefully you at least have that personal satisfaction from communicating yourself through your art and enriching people’s lives. Here’s to ya!

Hello Kevin! I so enjoy your email updates. I realize you are a very busy man and I won't keep you. I am from Buffalo, NY and this past summer the husband and I went to SPAC for a Dave Matthews concert. It was the first "get-a-way" we've had in five years *sigh*. We wandered around Broadway in Saratoga Springs, had lunch at the little hippie cafe and threw some cash around at Celtic Treasures. Up on the wall, we saw the "Feckin Wrecked" shirt and asked the lovebird owners if there was a print. Indeed there "WAS" but twas long sold out, or lost in your basement somewhere. I was curious if you have had a chance to get more printed, or if you would consider doing so. I know the owners wanted more and I would like at least three but could always find more people to gift them too. It is fine Irishwork indeed. Thank you for your time. Keep warm and happy. Fondly, Dawn O'Lewandowski (the husband is Polish, my redheaded self comes from the fabulous O'Neill, Quinn & O'Brien bloodlines so I prefer to use the "O" in my name ;o)
